My free play for today is the Arizona Diamondbacks over the Chicago Cubs.
And let's go ahead and list Madison Bumgarner over Justin Steele in this one.
Mad Bum is 2-2 with with a 2.29 ERA in eight starts this season, and hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his outings. He's only allowed four home runs, he's struck out 21 and he's limited six of his opponents to 1 or fewer earned run.
I trust he'll get the run support considering the Diamondbacks have won the first two games of this series, winning 3-1 on Thursday and 10-6 on Friday in Wrigley. Yes, this is their seventh straight road game, but adrenaline is flowing perfectly in this series and it'll mesh perfectly with how well Bumgarner has been throwing.
Arizona should get to Steele, who is 1-4 in seven starts with a 4.50 ERA this season. Over his last five outings, he is 0-4 with a 5.79 ERA. And he's only allowed one home run, which tells me teams are able to scatter hits and manufacture runs against him.
I like the Diamondbacks to keep their offensive flow going, and to top the Cubs here.
